10 Feb Spiritual man
The spiritual man is a man that is aware of his true self. He is the opposite of the natural man. God’s ultimate desire is for a natural man to be transformed into a spiritual man. This spiritual nature is what we get from the last Adam – Jesus Christ. In Adam, we were doomed for ‘death’, but in Jesus, we obtained ‘abundant life’.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:22
The spiritual man is ‘sold out’ to the things of God. His life is Christ-like, he works above the flesh as the flesh has been crucified. He is a man that is dead to sin and alive to righteousness. (see Romans 6:11).
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1
The spiritual man is a regenerated man. He is a new creation that walks in the realities of his new nature – God’s nature. Some of these new creation realities are: understanding the deep things of God, having access to divine revelation and having the wisdom of God. All the mysteries of what God has in store for man are only revealed to the regenerated man.
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
The ‘deep things of God’ are exclusively reserved for the spiritual man. That means it is not something to be obtained in universities or colleges. That is why it’s possible to see well-educated men who cannot fathom these things.
Having said all above, please note that it is also possible for the regenerated man not to fully appropriate the ‘deep things of God’, this can happen due to the contention of the flesh. This is the experience of a carnal man.
